11:19 pm: I got to work on a bobcat the other night. That was kind of kick ass. Also something I would only do in an emergency situation since my specialty is domesticated animals, but still, it was great.

I've seen the Avengers about 6 times. It was amazingly awesome by the way.

Krypto now sits on command rather than hearing the command, contemplating it, and then eventually sitting. Thanks for your dog whispering skills Kai.

Also there's a cricket somewhere in the house right now and it's driving me (and the dogs) nuts. apparently crickets aren't so awesome if they're not dressed in tophats and doling out advice. Then again Jimminy was kind of annoying too...

And that I think is it in the life of Matty right now.

08:36 pm: The Avengers countdown begins! There are three days until I get to see the movie (And lament the fact that in the US we're getting it last? What's up with that?). I could not be more excited for this, even though it means taking the morning off of work since being a very tired vet probably Isn't a great idea for any of my patients.

In other news... well hell there isn't a whole lot of other news. Heritage is good, life is good, work is good, my roommate kicks ass , although I have to admit I'm contemplating advertising for another one. We have the space , and the company might be nice. I don't know it's weird. I love having people around, it's something I've always had. Several people, a chaotic household. I swear if I ever get married and have kids I'm going to want a houseful just because I thrive on the energy that chaos creates.

Oh I learned the words and chords to Jason Mraz's new song. So that's been fun. I'm also thinking with summer approaching I need an outdoor hobby to take up. Suggestions?

08:09 pm: So Krypto learned what a Cat uses it's claws for today. Poor puppy! He was out in the backyard and the neighbors cat hopped the fence. He went sniffing around the cat, the cat hisses, Krypto didn't take the hint , next thing you now he got swiped across the nose. I do believe he learned his lesson about messing with cats! I kind of felt bad for him, except for you know, the part where it was kind of hilarious. :/

In other news The Avengers it out in less than a month. I have started my watching of all the Marvel Movies leading up to, although I'm watching them backwards, I started with Captain America, and watched Thor last night. Next up is Iron Man 2 This weekend. Yea, I'm a comic book nerd, always have been, never grew out of it, never will. I named my dog Krypto, no one should be that surprised.

08:43 pm: Having spent summers in Heritage growing up, The Lumbejack games were an event we heard about rather than watched. I was pretty damn excited to be around for them this year, and yes, I've spent the majority of my last couple days watching the events. I personally wouldn't last a second in any of the events, but they're damn fun to go cheer people on at.

09:06 pm: Well I think I'm settling in to life in Heritage. Now life with a new roommate? That's something else. I've never liked living alone so having Jules around is great for that. I'm also used to living with women for the most part. My sisters growing up and one of my roommates in Austin was a girl. What I"m not used to? Finding a woman roommate in my kitchen wearing a towel as she ate her fruit loops. Yea, it was an interesting morning that involved me blushing brighter than said fruit loops. At least I can't say things aren't boring around here!

In other news I was faced with one of the hardest things about being a vet for the first time since I came to Heritage. I hate having to suggest putting animals down, I really do. As a vet I get the fact that sometimes that beloved pet is in serious pain and it's just easier for them. As an animal lover though, it's always a tough thing to do. I understand the connection with a pet and hate to tell someone that that's the only course of action. It always makes for a rough day to have to deal with that.

In other news I have an appointment with a myna bird tomorrow. That should be interested since while I've taken the classes and have dealt with a bird or two over the years, it's been years. I need to brush up on my reading tonight, and possibly convince Dr. Shaw to consult on it.

08:29 pm: You know what's funny? Drivers back home in Austin when we get the very rare Snow storm. You know what's absolutely hilarious? Me attempting to drive in Ice that seems to be never ending first thing in the morning. Seriously. I realized yesterday morning I was driving like a little old man. I started laughing at myself. I think the woman in the car at the light next to me thought I was going crazy.

In other news I'm getting settled in at work. Dr. Shaw is planning to leave at the end of the month. Things are pretty busy right now though, more than the two of us can handle it feels like half the time. It's kind of a little daunting. Also getting my finger bit from Mrs. Reynolds prize Pomeranian was the highlight of my day yesterday. It's a mean little dog. I love animals, I do but I had no love at all for that one yesterday. She just laughed and was all "Oh, Bitty does that sometimes. It means she likes you!" I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's not what it meant at all!

I found a roommate. I'm pretty excited for that. It's going to be nice not to be alone all the damn time. I'm getting very tired of my own company. I think the dogs are tired of it too. Krypto fell asleep when I was talking to him this evening.

07:14 pm: I HAVE INTERNET!
Sorry, this is an exciting thing. I mean I had it over my phone the last few days but it's nice to be able to boot up the laptop and go online. It also means I have cable finally. Just in time for the season finale of Royal Pains this makes me a happy Matty.

Anyway, Hello Heritage! I'm Matt Culpepper , your brand new Vet. Dr. Shaw has told most of his patients so I can post it here I suppose. He's retiring and asked me to come to town to take over his practice. The first three weeks will be a transition period before he retires completely. Bring your pets by the office, I'd love to meet them, and you.

If my name looks familiar it's because I have spent some time in Heritage over the years. Every summer growing up my siblings and I were sent out here to visit our grandparents. incidentally that's how I met Dr. Shaw. My first job for him was volunteering to clean up kennels and walk and feed animals. It's nice to be back in town. I sort of missed it.

My little sister Alice is around also, which makes it an even better place to be. So lets see what else can i say...I play the guitar and, I love animals. I rented a house that is great except I don't have enough furnishings for it yet, since my apartment in Austin wasn't big at all.

Oh, someone brought a littler of stray puppies to me yesterday. Poor little guys were dumped. They're mutts, some Shepard and some Lab it looks like, they're going to be large dogs. As of right now they're healthy and happy, although not quite old enough to be away from Mom. So I'm going to be trying to keep them cared for for the next few weeks. At which point I will have inevitably bonded and want to keep all three. I'm pretty sure I can only manage two though so if anyone is considering a new pet, let me know?
